It was an odd one at Green Valley this past weekend. The wind messed with balls in the air and the generally bumpy pitch made balls on the ground more exciting than they needed to be. Of course neither of those things stopped Robert Garcia from putting the Mobsters on the board first with a nice goal. Unfortunately, as has happened in the past, the boys gave up a late equalizer and were unable to regain the lead. The end result was a 1-1 draw. Shoulda been three points but we'll take one point and continuation of our unbeaten streak.
Not getting full points cost us in the standings however as we drop to third place in the Central Pacific Division behind Fresno Fuego (grrr) and Burlingame Dragons (also grrr). We've got four more matches (possibly five if we do end up playing the make-up game vs SFCFC) and all but one is on the road. It won't be easy but the boys have been playing good ball so I think we'll be in it till the end.
Speaking of the final home game it is this Saturday against Fresno. Fresno has already beaten us twice this season in their house so we want to see a good and loud crowd to help spur the boys on. If you've been putting off coming out to see the Mobsters play live this is pretty much your last chance for a year or so. So get on out there and help us cheer the boys on to victory!
