The Men's squad got off to a shaky start, losing seven of their first nine contests but finished well to gain entry into the WAC post-season tournament.
And once the Rebs were in the tournament they caught fire; winning all three of their matches (including a dramatic win in PK's over Utah Valley) to claim the WAC tourney crown. Winning the tourney also gained them entry into the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately the season ended in the first round of the NCAA as the Rebs fell to #6 ranked San Diego State. Still, we're proud as hell of those guys for battling back from a terrible start to bring a trophy back to Las Vegas. (sure don't see any other sports around here doing that)
As for the Lady Rebs; they were amazing all year. Here's a link to an article recapping their season that says things way better than we ever could.
With the exception of a friendly between Mexico and Iceland in February at Sam Boyd we're without live soccer until the Mobsters start up again in late-April/May. PDL and NCAA seasons are just too dang short. So we wait...
If we hear any chatter about anything Las Vegas soccer-related we'll be sure to let y'all know. And don't forget we're on Facebook and Twitter as well.
If we don't have any more major news on here in '16 we hope we see you out at the matches next year. -MS
