We talked about the first two matches (2-0 win v Albuquerque and a 0-1 loss to BYU) in the previous two blog entries, but all the games bunched together plus the travel to Fresno took its toll; the 2016 PDL schedule is no joke
First game against Fresno Fuego was this past Wednesday. And, to put it bluntly, the boys got stomped. 2-6 was the final. They were missing D Robert Hines who was serving a red-card suspension from the BYU game, and that coupled with the traveling and the previous two matches so close together wiped them out. Highlights (not for the faint of heart) are below
So yup, not the best week. The good thing is the Mobsters are off until this Friday when they return home to Green Valley High to face Burlingame Dragons. They'll also be playing Sunday as well (because PDL). So make sure to some on out and support the boys!
The other news that came out this week was the release of the UNLV Rebels Men's team schedule. Not only are the Rebs playing some quality opponents (Cal State Fullerton, Santa Clara, UC Riverside) but all but one of the team's home games will be played at night. And anyone who has sat through a 1pm Saturday match in early September will appreciate. It looks like they're seriously attempting to grow their fanbase, and we're going to do what we can to help. Story on the 2016 schedule can be found here.
Between Mobsters matches and viewing parties for the USMNT games this week, there's a lot happening soccer-wise this week. We hope to see you out there for some of it!
